Graduate Comments

Here are some testimonials from a few of our recent graduates about the Granada course:

"Thoroughly enjoyed the whole learning process. It felt like invaluable preparation for teaching as a TEFL teacher - THANK YOU.

The teaching practice was an excellent way of preparing us for the demands of teaching students at different levels. The schedule was intense but I felt that support was given and was available when needed. The ISP project gave a real flavour of working 1-to-1 with a student - and helped me to understand how to assess and then teach the student.

[The quality of the trainers] - Extremely competent, excellent knowledge base - willing to support when needed whilst making it clear what was expected of the trainees, ensuring a high level of independency. "

Sophia, (British) graduated May 08.

"THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. I feel like I have learned a lot on this course about how to handle extremely stressful situations - organising myself more and keeping up-to-date with work has built a lot of character for me.

[Teaching practice] - I felt I gained valuable experience for the future and these classes were challenging but rewarding at the same time. Very good help during lesson planning, high quality with good feedback and constructive criticism. Resources were excellent, internet, pictures etc all readily available when I needed them.

Owen, (Irish) graduated May 08.

"I'm shocked at the amount of information that has been crammed into my brain. It speaks highly of the teachers' abilities & knowledge of the subjects that were taught. The days were long & my nights were short, but I couldn't have accomplished so much otherwise."

Marcia (American), graduated Feb 08.

"I felt supported by the trainers at all times. I was also comfortable and supported to ask questions and ask for help. This is v. important on such an intense course. Sessions were well delivered and I've learned a lot! I am looking forward to the next few weeks for it all to sink in!!"

Andrea,(Australian) graduated Feb 08

"The course has been very beneficial to me. I have learnt a lot & hope to put my new knowledge & skills into practice very soon.

Although the course was really hard at times, it has made me appreciate the end result.

The teaching practice was extremely valuable on all levels. I found the feedback would vary between the different teachers but appreciate that everyone has their own methods & that we're all individuals.

All academic staff were friendly, knowledgeable, professional & supportive. [Particularly] supportive when I was having a low point and struggling with grammar."

Sian, (British) graduated Dec 07

I am very happy that I did it. It was tough, though, which makes me happier because I managed to do something that's not easy! The trainers are good, and I especially liked the unknown language sessions.

[The teaching practice] was very, very good. The ISP is a good idea, though I think it should be started as early as possible so that the "dating" [setting up appointments with an ESL student] problem can be kept to a minimum. The lessons were very good and the feedback very, very helpful.

[The quality of the academic staff] was very good. Could not be better.

Jan, (German) graduated Dec 07.

My overall feelings about the course are very positive. It definitely has been a learning experience. I am relieved that it is over although I will miss the guidance and support which the staff and administration provided. I feel more confident about teaching English although I realize I have only begun to learn.

The quality of the training sessions was extremely high. It definitely felt overwhelming at times. It would be hard for me to decide what to cut out however.

The teaching practice was the most helpful component of the course. The number of hours was realistic for a month long intensive course. Materials were good. The quality of the feedback was extremely high and very useful. The grading was fair. The 1-to-1 project was useful but my biggest regret was not being able to put enough time and effort into it...

The trainers were extremely impressive. They combined high levels of professionalism, knowledge, competence, skilfulness as trainers with a sincere friendliness and approachability. The success of the course for myself had so much to do with the excellent academic staff here in Granada. I learned more this month than I have in years because of them.

Haydn, (Canadian) graduated Dec 07.
